As a bridesmaids' gift for my sister's wedding, she gave me a handmade tree of life necklace. It's so detailed and dainty and I absolutely love it and at the time, she had said to me, "you know, you should try making these, they're really big right now". I kind of danced with the idea for a while and then completely forgot all about it until today. I'm off work for a week so I thought now is the perfect time to think up ideas and get inventing.

I was thinking it was pretty boring to just do what everyone else does and make a tree of life necklace using one specific colour of bead and I really wanted my necklace to have a theme around games, since, you know, primarily, we make game stuff. I thought "ooh Zelda!" and decided to get cracking making a Legend of Zelda themed tree of life necklace, by integrating the Spiritual Stones into the tree.

I really didn't think it would be as hard as it was. It was quite fiddly, my fingers went numb quite quickly and it took around 3 hours to wrap each loop around my wire loop. I didn't have any thick wire so I just doubled the wire I had up and then wrapped my loops around that to strengthen it. Half way through of course I realised, ah hell, I could have just used a curtain ring for the main ring and saved myself about 2 hours. Hey-ho. Never mind. I know for the next one.

I then used a green, blue and red bead to represent each of the stones and strung my little tree on a silver plated chain. It's available on my Etsy store now if you're interested, but let me tell ya, it will be one of a kind, because there is no way I am putting my fingers through that torture again! Tree of Life Necklaces version 2.0 here I come!
